Selection criteria:
Employment / professional experience
- Significant experience in a health system/health policy making context at a regional, national or European level (with more junior applicants to have a minimum of 3 years experience);
- National and regional health policy-makers and their advisers who wish to upgrade their knowledge and understanding of the likely impact of ageing on health systems;
- Currently employed in a decision-making institution (government, nongovernmental, provider or payer association, or professional body) with a remit including supporting healthy ageing or shaping health systems responses to ageing. This will cover ministries, national agencies, health institutes, EU institutions, insurance boards, hospitals or hospital federations, management boards and others;
- Priority will be given to applicants with responsibility for promoting healthy ageing at a policy level; or supporting economic and social integration; or revising and integrating provision to ensure coherent care; or exploiting technology appropriately; or financing; or other initiatives to tailor the health system to the challenges faced.
- Applications are welcome from all 53 WHO European Region Member States.
- English (understanding, speaking) sufficient to actively participate in technical discussions;
- English (reading) sufficient to prepare for the course and manage background materials.
- Qualifications in public health, health systems management, social and political sciences, economics, or medicine/nursing and equivalent or related experience would all be helpful.
